Training A Dog Just For Obedience
Well-behaved dogs are fun to be with and a pleasure to own. Most well-behaved dogs are the ones who’ve been through dog obedience training. As a responsible dog-owner it is up to you to make sure that your puppy is appropriately trained in obedience. An untrained puppy is irritating to be around and causes many problems for their owners.
Teaching your dog properly will pay off for you as the owner in many ways. A well-trained dog will not create difficulties for you and a well-trained dog will not require as many restrictions. Cooperation with neighbors and friends will be easier for you as your dog will not cause undue problems. A well-trained dog always makes his owner look good.
Excessive barking, inappropriate jumping and other annoying habits of a poorly trained dog are frustrating for the owner and can be frightening for visitors. After all a visitor is not familiar with your dog and may not know how to deal with his bad behavior.
A dog that is leash-trained and will heel nicely at his owner’s side and will sit down without hesitation upon command is much more welcome in a public place among other people and other pets than a dog that is rowdy and out-of-control. Also, a well-trained dog receives much more positive attention and interactions from other people, be they strangers, friends or family. A well-trained and obedient dog can melt away people’s fears and open up their hearts.
As a responsible dog owner you need to take responsibility for your dog obedience training. Training a dog can reinforce the bond between the dog and his owner. Training a dog builds mutual respect, communication, and understanding and makes it clear to your dog that as his master and owner you are the “alpha dog”. If your dog considers you to be the leader you will dodge many difficulties especially if your dog is a high strung and rowdy by nature.
Attempting to keep your dog safe is very simple when he is appropriately trained in obedience. If your dog responds instantly to your commands you can keep him safe and sound in crowds, heavy traffic areas and much more. Your dog will return to you whenever you call if he happens to leave the yard also. That can save you much time and irritation.
A well-trained dog is reliable around children, exhibits appropriate behavior in a crowd and nice manners around guests. A well-trained dog will never cause you to be humiliated or cause awkwardness. It is possible to take your dog almost anywhere with no worries.
You will enjoy having your dog much more if you take the time, energy and money to properly train your dog. You and the dog will be more at ease.
Your attitude is probably the most crucial elements of training your dog. For more information on dog training classes visit us at our blog!
